Because by God’s grace you have been saved, you will crave righteousness and your hunger and thirst will be satisfied in nothing else this world has to offer. Because by God’s mercy you have been saved, show mercy. For, in Christ we are righteously satisfied and mercifully forgiven.
It is in this blessedly broken, mournfully comforted meekness that we recognize the spiritual culture of the world, the flesh, and the devil, and see it for what it is: the culture of a temporal kingdom that will pass away.
Jesus’ miraculous works point us to something far more important than physical healing or exorcism, namely Himself, the Word of God.
You nor I are victims. Satan has been defeated and is a snivelling, permission-dependent pawn under God’s sovereign control.
As citizens of the eternal heavenly kingdom, remember that in this earthly kingdom we are sojourners and exiles, awaiting our King’s return and the final consummation of the kingdom.
God has established rules of order to creation, and He orchestrates all things according to His sovereign will… including the ordinary providence of fleeing to Egypt to avoid the vengeful wrath of an angry king.
Let us rejoice every Lord’s Day exceedingly with great joy, bowing down in reverent worship, offering gifts in tangible worship, heeding God’s Word in living worship.
If you are in Christ, then God has sovereignly fulfilled your salvation, a fulfillment foreordained before the foundation of the world, a fulfillment promised in the Garden of Eden, a fulfillment declared by the prophets.
As Scripture confirms: A promise made. A promise tried. A promise kept. He is our Promise Keeper, Christ Jesus the King!
